Description

The Health and Safety Coordinator would be responsible for supporting all activities related to health and safety at work and prevention. They would provide orientations and coaching to managers and staff on their health and safety as well as conformity in their reporting responsibilities. They would contribute to the training of the employees in terms of safety requirements as well as in the work environment.

 

They would ensure that the administrative protocols are completed in accordance with the health and safety program and will assist the operations team with the anticipated rehabilitation and occupational safety program. They must also ensure the proper management of files (accident management, audits, inspections, policies, training, procedures etc.) In addition, they must play a crucial role in terms of organizational climate so that we can optimize the use of corporate resources to meet or exceed the objectives of the organization in a complex and ever-changing context. The Health and Safety Coordinator will regularly audit to ensure that the health and safety aspects of our business comply with standards and the law.

Role and Responsibilities:

Oversee/train/ inspire/ facilitate and support all employees in the context of their health and safety responsibilities

Oversee temporary and contractual security staff assigned to large-scale projects

Implement and monitor compliance with policies, procedures as well as monitor training

Develop and lead new prevention programs (procedure, training)

Coordinate monthly health and safety committee meetings

Monitor and perform audits/ inspections/ certification in the field

Support Human Resources in managing CNESST files, including disputes and appeals, when required

Supervise the investigation of major accidents and incidents

Participate in the integration of new employees

Execute the emergency measures in case of fire, bomb, or theft

Management of hazardous materials

Ensure compliance monitoring on the ergonomics of our work environment and work equipment

Stay up to date in the amendments of the CNESST and regulations as well as the law on health and safety at work and propose recommendations for their implementation

Work together with the joint association Multi Prevention on the action plan established to comply with occupational health and safety regulations.

Prerequisites:

 

Post-Secondary diploma/ certificate in occupational health and safety or any relevant experience will be taken into account

Knowledge of provincial and federal laws relating to health and safety in the workplace

Knowledge of electricity safety(asset)

Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English and French

Ability to work as a member of a team and to resolve conflicts

Excellent time management and strong ability to multitask

Ability to work with Microsoft office software (Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, Word)

Show interest in learning to work with VKS internal software

Be comfortable with administrative processes related to the task (quotes, various searches, contacts, with suppliers, compliance monitoring
