Maintenance Supervisor
Description
For our client, a multinational in the packaging industry employing over 30,000 people worldwide, we are currently seeking a Day Shift Maintenance Supervisor.
Reporting to the Maintenance Director, the Day Shift Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for managing a team of 9 maintenance personnel, ensuring the safe execution of tasks, and overseeing the daily planning of various maintenance and repair operations. The supervisor will also contribute to the development of a preventive maintenance program and lead the team in both preventive and corrective interventions on equipment and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures (OHS) for all team members;
- Manage the daily and weekly scheduling of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks;
- Evaluate team members in collaboration with the Maintenance Director;
- Contribute to the professional development of the maintenance team;
- Ensure maintenance staff are properly trained, equipped, and motivated to carry out maintenance activities safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively;
- Address employee-related issues and participate in disciplinary meetings as needed;
- Implement specific KPIs to assess staff performance;
- Maintain relationships with suppliers and resolve any issues that may arise;
- Conduct daily floor inspections;
- Be present on machinery during extended downtime;
- Collaborate with the production team to optimize equipment efficiency;
- Audit staff to ensure compliance with OHS regulations;
- Be available to respond to emergencies at any time;
- Apply and enforce the terms of the current collective agreement;
- Participate in any project aimed at improving maintenance department operations;
- Be available to work weekends if needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or any combination of education and experience deemed relevant;
- Three to five years of experience supervising a maintenance team in a unionized environment;
- Experience in preventive maintenance planning;
- Experience in the packaging, paper, or cardboard industry is a strong asset;
- Strong communication and coaching skills;
- Good knowledge of both French and English, spoken and written.
