Description

The Director, Project Engineering is responsible for all engineering functions related to facilities, processes and equipment within North American operations. The position will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams of internal employees and direct reports while taking overall responsibility for external contractors, engineering, and other third-party service providers.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

Oversee the design, modification, installation, and commissioning of production equipment and systems using company standards Interface with engineers and cross-functional teams to define project scope requirements and integrate company standards Evaluate new process technologies to improve existing systems and address process and safety issues Work with finance, production, quality, and safety to develop justifications for capital projects Acquire and negotiate bids from project contractors in conjunction with procurement Prepare project specifications and/or tender documents Manage the dissemination of design data to suppliers (contractors, component suppliers, etc.) Conduct visits to supplier sites to ensure compatibility of equipment designs with current plant configurations Assist in the development of new installation techniques and standards Manage capital projects valued at up to $1 million, plus on time and on budget Identify and effectively utilize project resources Provide technical assistance to processing facilities, to improve quality and efficiency
Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance within assigned
projects Ensure that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified
requirements Manage project cost and schedule
Provide engineering tasks, including training and documentation necessary to ensure that a project is executed and deliverables are achieved.

 

About you:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant experience in design and project management Intermediate-level skills with Microsoft Office and Project software and Windows operating system, AutoCAD, and similar design software Ability to work with minimal supervision and supervise the work of subcontractors, third-party engineering providers, and direct reports Effective analytical and problem-solving skills problems Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines Ability to lead a team and effectively achieve project objectives Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines Excellent verbal and written communication skills Team player and collaborative Motivated
