Manager, Project Engineering
Description
The Manager, Project Engineering is responsible for all engineering functions related to facilities, process and equipment within the North American operations. The position will be responsible for leading multi-functional teams of internal employees and direct reports while holding overall responsibility for outside contractors, engineering and other 3rd party service providers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee the design, modification, installation and commissioning of production equipment and systems utilizing corporate standards
- Interface with engineers and multifunctional teams to define project scope requirements and incorporate corporate standards
- Evaluate new process technologies to improve existing systems and resolve process and safety problems
- Work with finance, production, quality and safety to develop justifications for capital projects
- Acquire and negotiate project contractor bids in conjunction with procurement
- Prepare project specifications and/or tender documents
- Manage release of design input to suppliers (contractors, component suppliers, etc.)
- Perform supplier site visits to ensure compatibility of equipment designs with current plant configurations
- Assist in the development of new installation techniques and standards
- Manage capital projects ranging in dollar value from $1MM plus meeting deadlines and budgets
- Identify and effectively utilize project resources
- Provide technical assistance to processing facilities, to improve quality and efficiency
- Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance within assigned projects
- Ensure that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified requirements
- Manage project cost and timing
- Provide engineering tasks, including training and documentation as required to ensure a project is executed and deliverables are achieved
- Travel percentage moderate to high, 40% to 60% based on assigned project locations
About you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least 10 years relevant design and project management experience
- Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office and Project software and Windows Operating System, AutoCAD and similar design software
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, and oversee the work of contractors, 3rd party engineering providers and direct reports
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to lead a team and accomplish project goals effectively
- Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team-oriented and collaborative
- Self-motivated
